Chinese carved wood sculpture

A large and finely carved boxwood sculpture. Naturalistic form, lotus leaves, flowers and pods with a crab and toad nestled into the base. Beautifully carved and well patinated in two tones ranging from warm honey to rich chocolate colours. Only minor damage which is remarkable given its intricate detail and age. Two dimensional images fail to do this lovely sculpture its deserved justice.
