A fine marquetry centre table in the manner of Edward Holmes Baldock
A fine English marquetry centre table, Edward Holmes Baldock 1777-1845. Figured walnut with marquetry boarder of specimen flowers set within an ebony ground. Each vignette and central panel depicts a different flower. The outline of the top is scalloped and has an ebonised moulding. The base has three slightly concave faces typical of Baldock design along with French influence. This table has clearly been prized throughout its life and as such is in excellent condition with a lovely patina. Edward Holmes Baldock was, primarily a dealer in fine antiques, specialising in French furniture from the 18th century. He also produced his own furniture designs and had them made to exacting standards. English c1840
